I have officially started fasting today and am new to this. Does it matter what kind of bread we eat? Can it be any bread from our local grocery store or must it be a specific kind? Thank you in advance and God bless!Liz Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07538632977514132110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8934901189933116489.post-82611166234204935992017-05-16T16:51:32.092-04:002017-05-16T16:51:32.092-04:00Hello Marie,
Thank you for your question. It is g...Hello Marie,

Thank you for your question. It is great to read that you have begun to fast on bread and water.

As to what prayers you can unite to your fasting, there are many: the Rosary as you already know; Stations of the Cross (St. Alphonsus Liguori); formal prayers in the morning at the beginning of the fast, such as Father Slavko Barbarić's "Prayer on Fast Days" which can be found on page ninety-three in his book, "Pray With The Heart" (see blog label "Father Slavko Barbarić"); and Mass, if you attend on Wednesdays and Fridays, which I highly recommend you do, offering all of your fast (and prayer) intentions before it is celebrated.

If you include any one of these, or a combination of two or more, with your fasting it would certainly add to the spiritual benefits! It all depends on how much time you have and are willing to dedicate to prayer.

No matter what prayers you combine with your fasting, you should always offer the day's fast for your personal intentions as well: don't forget about yourself and your own salvation!

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to send them my way. Be assured of my prayers and fasting for you and your intentions as well.

God bless you.Domenic Marandohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13249195831402440587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8934901189933116489.post-44814149974985932322017-05-16T00:17:01.990-04:002017-05-16T00:17:01.990-04:00I just started to fast with bread and water i woul...I just started to fast with bread and water i would like to know if there some specific prayers besides the rosary thank you.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08262731830864860422noreply@blogger.com
